About Lautturi

Our Mission

Lautturi was built on a simple belief: language learning works best when it feels like play. Too many students lose motivation with traditional drills and flashcards. We wanted to create something different — a platform where every vocabulary word, grammar rule, and pronunciation challenge is wrapped in an engaging game.

Our mission is to make English learning accessible to everyone, regardless of budget, location, or prior experience. Every game on Lautturi is completely free, requires no account, and works on any device with a web browser.

Why Games?

Research in educational psychology consistently shows that game-based learning improves retention, motivation, and engagement. When learners are actively involved — making decisions, solving puzzles, racing against the clock — their brains form stronger memory connections.

Games also reduce the anxiety that often accompanies language learning. Mistakes become part of the fun rather than sources of embarrassment. Players naturally repeat challenging content, building fluency through practice without even realizing it.

Our Approach

Every game is designed with clear learning objectives. We do not add games for the sake of variety — each one targets specific skills and CEFR levels. Difficulty adapts based on player performance, ensuring that beginners are not overwhelmed and advanced learners stay challenged.

We also prioritize accessibility. All games work without sound (with visual alternatives), support keyboard navigation, and use high-contrast designs that are easy to read.
